Negeri Tojo Una-una". Skripsi. English Education Study Program, Faculty of Teacher Training and Education, Tadulako University, Under the supervision of Mukrim and Maf’ulah. This research focuses on the use of Culture-Based Learning (CBL) as learning content to improve students' mastery of English speaking. The aim of this research is to investigate the effectiveness of Culture-Based Learning (CBL) in improving the English speaking mastery of class VII students at MTs. Negeri Tojo Una-una, which is located in the Ratolindo District of Tojo Una-una Regency, Central Sulawesi. The population for this research consisted of all class VII students for the 2022/2023 school year, totaling 77 students. The research method employed is a quantitative approach with a quasi-experimental design, utilizing a sample of 50 students from class VII A and VII B, selected through purposive sampling technique. Data collection was conducted through tests, specifically pre-tests and post-tests administered as oral exams, either in groups or individually. Based on the research findings, it can be concluded that the use of Culture-Based Learning (CBL) as learning content significantly improves students' English speaking skills. The experimental group showed a 44.50% improvement rate, while the control group only exhibited a 10.60% improvement from the pre-test, treatment to the post-test stage.
