Abstrak Jihan (A 121 19 021). “The Use of Flow Chart to Improve Students Writing Ability of the Eight Grade Students of SMP Negeri 13 Palu”. Skripsi, English Education Study Program, Language and Art Education Department, Tadulako University. It is under the supervision of Ferry Rita and Afrillia Anggreni. The objective of this research is to find out whether the use of Flow Chart can improve students writing ability or not; the researcher applied a quasi- experimental research design which involved experimental and control class. The population of this research was the eighth-grade students at SMP Negeri 13 Palu. The researcher selected the sample by using a purposive sampling technique. The sample of this research was the students of VIII C consisted of 29 students as an experimental class and VIII consisted of 29 students as a control class. The technique of data collection used instrument tests (pre-test and post-test). The experimental class was treated by applying the Flow Chart method. The result of the data analysis showed that there was a significant difference between the pre- test and post-test. The researcher found that the t-counted (4.48) was higher than the t-table (2.016). It means that the hypothesis was accepted. In conclusion, the use of Flow Chart effectively improves students writing ability in procedure text of the eighth-grade students of SMP Negeri 13 Palu.
