Abstrak Tiara Annur Basitha, 2025. “Speaking Anxiety of Tenth Grade Student of SMA Negeri 1 Luwu Utara.”. Skripsi. English Education Study Program, Department of Language and Art Education, Faculty of Teacher Training and Education, under the supervision of (1) Mochtar Marhum (2) Maf’ulah. This study aimed to identify the factors contributing to students' speaking anxiety in English classes. Using observations, questionnaires, and interviews, the findings reveal that anxiety is influenced by three primary elements: pedagogical practices, methodological approaches, and the role of the teacher. Pedagogical practices, including teaching strategies and classroom activities, play a crucial role in either alleviating or intensifying students' anxiety. Methodological factors, such as the teaching methods employed, also contribute to students' nervousness, particularly when the learning environment is overly focused on error correction. Additionally, the teacher’s role is critical—strict, unsupportive teachers heighten anxiety, while those who foster a positive and encouraging atmosphere help students feel more confident in speaking. The study emphasizes the importance of supportive pedagogical approaches, effective teaching methodologies, and positive teacher-student interactions in reducing students’ speaking anxiety and improving their overall language learning experience.
