This study aims to analyze how closely students’ beliefs in English pronunciation reflect to the ELF concept and how closely the teacher’s beliefs in teaching English pronunciation reflect to the ELF concept. The sample in this study was all class XI students totaling 15 students and one teacher. Data collection techniques used observation, interview and questionnaire. Data analysis techniques used interactive analysis models. Based on the result of the research, students’ beliefs in English pronunciation and teacher’s beliefs in teaching English pronunciation have significant different. Students recognize and desire communication concept such as ELF. This can be seen when they pay more attention to understanding meaning in communication. While teacher refers more to native speaker’s accent, which can be seen from the opinions of teacher who show more interest in the importance of their students to speak like native English speakers. Compared to that, no matter what accent is used, the informants agree to prioritize mutual understanding when communicating. That is, the concept of ELF in English pronunciation as part of English communication is a concept that is needed to be applied. Keywords: Beliefs, English as a Lingua Franca, Pronunciation.
