Abstrak ABSTRACT Asdar (A 121 18 242). Using Cue Cards to Develop Speaking Skill of Grade Eight Students of SMP Negeri Satu Atap Bulu Minung Bangkir. English Education Study Program, Teacher Training and Education Faculty, Tadulako University. Under the supervision of Abdul Kamaruddin and Erniwati. This research is aimed to find out the effectivenessof using cue card for improving speaking skill of grade eight student of SMP Negeri 1 Atap Bulu Minung. This research was conducted through pre-experimental one group pretest and posttest research design in which the samples of the research were 21 students of eight grades. To collect the data, the card-and-picture media with tests (pretest and posttest) was used. Results showed that there was a significant difference between students’ speaking skill before and after the intervention. To obtain the data of this research is analysed statistically in order to find out the significant between pretest and posttest result after the treatment. It was found that the mean score of pretests 46.14 and posttest 59.14. Referring to the t-table value of df 20 (21-1) by applying 0.05 level of significance on pretest and posttest, it is found that the t-counted value of this research (4.08) is higher than the t-table value (1.710). It was indicated that the Alternative Hypothesis (H1) was accepted. It could be concluded that using cue card is effective to improve speaking skill of grade eight students of SMP Negeri Satu Atap Bulu Minung Bangkir. Keywords: Improve, Speaking Skill, Cue Card |
