Abstrak ABSTRACT Rasni A. Gente, A 121 18 241. This skripsi entitled “A Review on the Implementation of Picture Series in Teaching Writing skills”. Skripsi, English Study Program, Language and Art Education Department, Teacher Training and Education Faculty, Tadulako University, under the supervision of Rofiqoh and Erniwati. This study aims to review how students’ performance in writing on different types of text after being taught using picture series and what qualities makes picture series effective. This research employed library research design, which is part of qualitative research. The data sources were taken from Pricilla Orinda and Rusdi Noor Rosa (2013); Deva Setyawan, Bambang Setiyadi, and Ari Nurweni (2015); Katia Gregoria Contreras Gutiérrez, Miriam Niño Puello, and Luis Alberto Pérez Galvis (2015); Rahayu Hesthi Wening, Bambang Yudi Cahyono, and Emalia Iragiliati (2017); Fenny Thresia (2017); M. Wisnu Margana (2018); Dhony Setiawan (2019); Euis Setiati and Resty W. Gemilang (2019); and Nurul Aini and Egita Ratih Kusuma Wardani (2021) as secondary data. The result showed that using picture series can enhance both students’ cognitive and affective skills. The implementation of picture series is much helpful in students generating and developing ideas in various types of text including descriptive, narrative, recount, explanation, procedure, spoof, and analytical exposition texts. It makes teachers more creative in teaching writing skills and supports teaching and learning activities at school. Picture series has many remarkable qualities such as simple, attractive, concrete, flexible, aesthetic, engaging, which contributes to the students' writing performance.
