Abstrak FIFI YANTINI, 2025. "Teaching Vocabulary to Grade VIII Students at SMPN 7 Balaesang Tanjung Donggala through Real Things". Thesis. English Education Study Program, Department of Language and Art Education, Faculty of Teacher Training and Education, Tadulako University, under the supervision of Mawardin M. Said and Muhammad Arid. The purpose of this research is to prove whether or not the use of real things as a media can increase students' English vocabulary mastery of the grade VIII students at SMPN 7 Balaesang Tanjung Donggala. This research applied pre-experimental design using one group pre-test and posttest. The populations of this research were students at SMPN 7 Balaesang Tanjung Donggala. The sample in this research was grade VIII, which consisted of 23 students selected through purposive sampling. The data were collected through fill-in test, matching test, and jumble letters test before (pretest) and after (Posttest) treatment. The result of this research was analized by a one-sample Wilcoxon signed rank test. The researcher analyze the data manually, and then process the data with electronic calculation through SPSS 27 program to determine whether was an influence on students' vocabulary mastery after the Real Things media was applied in the learning process, which finally found the value of Z = -4.020 and Asymp. sig. (2-tailed) = 0.001. And because the value of Asymp. Sig. ( 2-tailed) = 0.001<0.05 then it can be concluded that the hypothesis is accepted. It means that the students' vocabulary mastery of grade VIII at SMPN Balaesang Tanjung Donggala can be increased through Real Things. Keyword: Teaching, Vocabulary, Real, Thing. |
