Abstrak
Suci Dwi Lestari (A1218215), 2022 This Skripsi is entitled, The Use Of Project Based Learning to Improve Students' Speaking Skill at Grade XI of SMA Negeri 1 Palasa, Skripsi, Teacher Training, and Education Faculty, Language and Art Education Department, English Education Study Program, Tadulako University, under the supervision of Darmawan and Wahyudin. The objective of this research is to find out whether or not the use of the Project-based Learning can improve the speaking skill of the students' at SMA Negeri 1 Palasa. This research employed the quasi-experimental design. The population was the grade XI students of SMA Negeri 1 Palasa, XI IPA 3 was the experimental group and XI IPA 1 was the control group. The sample selected using the purposive sampling technique. The data were collected through pre- test and post-test. Data were analyzed using t-test to compare the experimental and the control groups' pre-test and post-test mean scores.The results show no significant differences in mean pre-test scores on the control group and the experimental group, students’ mean score are 35.26 and 34.92. Data analysis reveals no significant difference of mean scores on post-test between the control and experimental groups, the mean score are 41.67 and 45.23. Although, there is an improvement between the pre-test mean score and the post-test mean score of the experimental group, but it is not a significant improvement. Further analysis indicates that t-counted (1.104) is lower than the t-tables (1.67). Therefore, it can be concluded that project-based learning cannot improve students' speaking skills at grade XI of SMA Negeri 1 Palasa.
