Abstrak
ABSTRACT Putriyani (A 121 181 161) “ Analysing Students Difficulties To Comprehend Reading Text at the Eighth Grade of SMP Negeri 12 Sigi”. Skripsi. English Education Study Program, Language And Arts Education Department, Teacher Training and Education Faculty, Tadulako University, under the supervision of Aminah and Budi. This research is about analysing the students’ difficulties on reading comprehension at the eighth grade of SMP Negeri 12 Sigi. This research used qualitative descriptive design. The data were collected by using questionnaire and interview. The questionnaire was distributed at class VIII B with total number 20 students, and the interview with 5 students in class VIII B who had recommended from the teacher. The results of data analyzes shown that the students of SMP Negeri 12 Sigi have difficulty in four aspects of students difficulty on reading comprehension. Those are the student’s lack of vocabulary, students difficulties in determining main idea, student’s difficulties in finding spesific information, and students get difficulties in identifying references. The most difficult aspect was the students are difficulty in lack of vocabulary. While the result of interview the reseacher found that students difficulty in understanding meaning words and unfamiliar with the new words. It can be infered, the students of SMP Negeri 12 Sigi are lack of vocabulary. Keywords : reading comprehension, students, and difficulty ? Penelitian ini tentang menganalisis kesulitan siswa dalam membaca pemahaman di kelas VIII SMP Negeri 12 Sigi. Penelitian ini menggunakan desain deskriptif kualitatif. Pengumpulan data dilakukan dengan menggunakan kuesioner dan wawancara. Kuesioner dibagikan di kelas VIII B dengan jumlah siswa 20 orang, dan wawancara dengan 5 siswa di kelas VIII B yang telah direkomendasikan oleh guru. Hasil analisis data menunjukkan bahwa siswa SMP Negeri 12 Sigi mengalami kesulitan dalam empat aspek kesulitan pemahaman membaca siswa. Itu adalah kurangnya kosa kata siswa, kesulitan siswa dalam menentukan gagasan utama, kesulitan siswa dalam menemukan informasi spesifik, dan siswa kesulitan mengidentifikasi referensi. Aspek yang paling sulit adalah kesulitan siswa dalam penguasaan kosa kata. Sedangkan dari hasil wawancara peneliti menemukan bahwa siswa kesulitan dalam memahami arti kata dan tidak terbiasa dengan kosa kata baru. Dapat disimpulkan, siswa SMP Negeri 12 Sigi mengalami kesulitan dalam penguasaan kosakata. Kata kunci : Pemahaman Membaca, Kesulitan, dan Siswa
