Abstrak This study aims to determine whether the Read, Encode, Annotate, and Ponder (REAP) Strategy improve Reading Comprehension for eighth grade students of SMPN 1 Bolano Lambunu. Researchers used a quasi-experimental research design with 48 students. The sample for this research was students of class VIII A as the experimental group and VIII B as the control group, who were selected using a random sampling technique. Data were analyzed statistically to determine significant differences in student achievement before and after treatment. The mean value of the pre-test in the experimental group was 24.89 while that of the control group was 21.45. The average value of the post-test in the experimental group was 47.50 and the control group was 33.43. Based on the results of the pre-test and post-test, the researcher found that the t-counted value was (2.95). By applying degrees of freedom (df) 46 (24+24-2) and 0.005 significance level, the researcher finds that the t-table value is (1.68) which indicates that the t-counted value (3,11) is higher than the t-table (3,11). Based on data analysis, researchers concluded that the REAP Strategy (Read, Encode, Annotate, and Ponder) can improve students' reading comprehension. This proves that the REAP strategy is effective in increasing Reading Comprehension in class VIII SMPN 1 Bolano Lambunu. |
