| Abstrak Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui apakah penggunaan video animasi efektif meningkatkan kemampuan siswa kelas delapan SMPN 6 Bolano Lambunu dalam menulis teks deskriptif. Penelitian ini menggunakan desain pra eksperimen atau satu kelompok pretest dan posttest. Sampel penelitian ini adalah kelas VIII A, dengan jumlah sampel 19 siswa yang dipilih secara purposive sampling. Instrumen penelitian ini berupa tes yang dibagi menjadi pretest dan posttest. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukan adanya perubahan yang signifikan pada pretest dan posttest; nilai di kelas meningkat secara signifikan dari 29.39 menjadi 61.84. Hasil t-hitung sebesar 10.43, dan t-tabel sebesar 1,73 dengan menerapkan tingkat signifikansi 0,05 dengan 19(19-1) derajat kebebasan (df). Oleh karena itu, dapat disimpulkan bahwa video animasi dapat meningkatkan kemampuan siswa dalam menulis teks deskriptif karena nilai t-hitung lebih tinggi dari t-table dan hipotesis diterima. Implikasi dari penelitian ini, secara teori dan praktis video animasi dapat berpengaruh serta dapat digunakan sebagai media bagi guru untuk meningkatkan kemampuan menulis siswa, khususnya teks deskriptif. Kata Kunci : meningkatkan, kemampuan menulis, video animasi This study aims to determine whether using animated videos effectively improve the ability the grade eight students of SMPN 6 Bolano Lambunu in writing descriptive text. This study applied a pre-experimental design or one group pretest and posttest. The sample of this study was class VIII A, with 19 students selected by using purposive sampling. The instrument of this study was a test divided into a pretest and a posttest. The result of this study reveals that there is a significant change in the pretest and posttest; the score in the class increased significantly from 29.39 to 61.84. The result of t-count is 10.43 and t-table is 1.73. By applying a significance level of 0.05 with 19(19-1) degrees of freedom (df). Therefore, it can be concluded that animated videos can improve students' ability to write descriptive texts because t-count is higher than t-table and the hypothesis is accepted. The implications of this study, in theory and practice animated videos have an effect and can be used as media for teachers to improve students’ writing, especially descriptive text.
