ABSTRACT Rahmania, 2022. Students’ Perception toward Online Game Practice and Relation to Their Vocabulary Development. A skripsi. English Education Study Program. Language and Art Department. Teacher Training and Educational Faculty, Tadulako University. Under the supervision of (1) Darmawan (2) Mashuri. The objective of this research was to find out the students’ perception toward online game practice and relation to their vocabulary development. Qualitative descriptive research was analyzed by the researcher. The researcher used a questionnaire and interview as the instrument to collect the data and took 17 respondents for the questionnaire and 5 informants that were taken from eleventh-grade students in MAN 2 Palu. The questionnaires in this research were ‘Yes or No’ questions with consisted of 3 indicators, namely students’ perception of online games, the advantages and disadvantages of online games, and students’ perception of vocabulary development in online games. The interview was conducted to get more information from the students as a supporting result of the questionnaire. The result of the study showed that all students’ perception of an online game (67.65%) is considered positive, the advantages and disadvantages of online games (57.83%) are considered positive, students’ perceptions of vocabulary development in online games (66.18%) is considered positive. The overall mean score of the third indicator was (63.89%) which is categorized as positive. The students’ stated that there was a relationship between online game practice and their vocabulary development. It can be seen in the result of the interview. Many students got the vocabulary and it applied to communication with other players. Keywords: Perception, Online Game, Vocabulary
