ABSTRACT Reskiyana, 2022. “Investigating Students? Grammatical Errors in Writing Recount Text Produced by The Tenth Grade Students at MAN Insan Cendekia Palu. ”. Skripsi . English Education Study Program, Language and Art Education Department, Teacher Training and Education Faculty, Tadulako University. Under the supervision of Jamiluddin and Budi. This research aims to find out the grammatical errors and the dominant error made by students in writing recount texts based on the surface strategy taxonomy. This research employs qualitative descriptive design. The subjects of this research were the tenth-grade students of MAN Insan Cendekia Palu in the academic year 2021/2022. The researcher used a written test to get data about errors in writing recount text. Students' writing results were analyzed, classified and presented. The results show that the students made as many as 70 errors in their recount text which were classified according to the surface strategy taxonomy. Of these, there are 35 items (50%) errors of misformation, 22 items (31%) errors of omission, 7 items (10%) errors of addition, and 6 items (9%) errors of misordering. Many errors made by students in writing recount text. This shows that the students' ability in writing recount text is still low. Keywords: Writing, Grammar, Recount Text
