Abstrak
When writing a thesis (skripsi), it is important to write an abstract clearly because it plays an important role in communicating the whole thesis. However, despite its importance, many undergraduate students at Tadulako University still make errors in abstract writing. This research aims to identify and determine the errors made by undergraduate students at Tadulako University in writing abstracts of thesis (skripsi). A descriptive qualitative method was used involving data collection through library research at Tadulako University. The research subjects were thesis abstracts written by undergraduate students of the English Education Study Program that were published in 2020, 2021, and 2022. A total of 15 abstracts were analyzed using Error Analysis. After analyzing thesis abstracts, the researcher found 115 errors, content errors as 14%, equaled 16 errors, organization errors as 11%, equaled 13 errors. Similarly, 11% of vocabulary errors, equaled 13 errors. Language use errors as 37%, equaled 42 errors. Lastly, mechanics errors as 27%, equaled 31 errors. It was found that the majority errors made by undergraduate students in writing thesis abstracts were related to Language Use. In conclusion, undergraduate students should pay attention to Language Use to enhance the overall quality and clarity of their thesis abstracts.
