Abstrak
This research aims to determine students' readiness to learn English towards the offline learning policy in the new normal era. This research used a qualitative descriptive method, using questionnaires and interviews to collect data. The subjects of this research were eleventh-grade students of SMA Negeri 2 Sigi. The questionnaire in this research consists of 5 indicators, namely: offline learning, students' readiness, school readiness, teachers' readiness, and offline learning strategy. Meanwhile, interviews were conducted to obtain further information from students to support the questionnaire results. From the 5 readiness indicators, the result shows that the students' readiness toward offline learning is positive. This can be seen from the results of offline learning that students prefer face-to-face learning at school, student readiness seen from physical means having good health and mental means that students have prepared or dared to come to school, school readiness seen from health protocol facilities and adaptation of learning conditions, teacher readiness seen from the teacher provides in the form of learning materials, offline lesson plans, media for learning, and offline learning strategies seen from teachers using teacher-centered and student-centered learning strategies. The interview results support this. First, students are more enthusiastic about participating in face-to-face learning at school because they can more easily understand the material provided face-to-face. Second, students stated that they were physically, mentally, and materially prepared to follow the face-to-face learning process. Finally, students stated that the school had prepared health protocol facilities in the form of hand washing stations, hand sanitizers, body temperature measuring devices, running water, and so on. Meanwhile, teachers have prepared learning materials adapted to offline conditions.
