Abstrak Karim Alhaq, A12118056. “Using Small Group Discusion (SGD) to Improve Writing Perfomance of the Tenth Grade Students of SMA Negeri 1 Sindue”. Skripsi. English Education Study Program, Language and Art Education Department, Teacher Training and Education Faculty, Tadulako University, under the supervision of Sriati Usman and Maf’ula. The objective of this research is to prove that SGD technique can improve writing performance of the tenth grade students at SMA Negeri 1 Sindue. It used a quasi- experimental research design. The samples of this research were class X B as the experimental group and class X F as the control group. They were selected by using purposive sampling technique. The data were collected through pre-test and post- test. They were analyzed to compare the mean score of the pre-test and post-test. The result of the data analysis shows that the mean score of post-test (7.83) is higher than pre-test (5.03) by 2.8 points. It indicates that there is significant improvement of the students after using SGD as a treatment. It means that SGD can improve writing performance of the tenth grade students of SMA Negeri 1 Sindue. The implication of the research findings is the teachers can use SGD as the taching method to support learning activities in the classroom. Keywords: Writing Skill, SGD, Recount Text, Improving |
