Abstrak The objective of this research is to find out the implementation of using story telling to improve students’ vocabulary mastery. The subjects of this research is the Eighth Grade Students’ of SMP Negeri 4 Palu. This research was conducted by using pre-experimental research design. The sample was class Delima that consisted of 33 students. The instrument of collecting data is test. The test cover pretest and posttest. The researcher gave a pre-test to find out students’ prior knowledge before the treatment and post-test after the treatment. In the pretest, the students’ mean score is 53,23 and the post-test is 72,02. Then, the researcher calculated the t-counted and the result of t-counted value is 10,85. By applying t-table value with 0,05 as the level of significance and 32 degree of freedom, it is found that t-table value (1,694) lower than t-counted value (10,85) that means the hypothesis is accepted. Based on results of the research it can be concluded that the implementation of story telling technique can improve vocabulary mastery of the eighth grade students of SMP Negeri 4 Palu. The results of this research showed improve in students’ vocabulary mastery through the implementation of story telling. This research implies that the teacher can use story telling to teach vocabulary mastery. |
