Abstrak
Alkhaf Shaban (2025). Using Chain Story Technique to Develop Speaking Skill of Grade VIII Students of SMP Negeri 1 Banawa Tengah, English Education Study Program, Department of Language and Arts Education, Faculty of Teacher Training and Education, under the supervision of Konder Manurung and Zarkiani Hasyim. The purpose of this research is to determine the effectiveness of the chain story technique in teaching English speaking of garde VIII students of SMP Negeri 1 Banawa Tengah. The sample of this research is the grade VIII students of SMP Negeri 1 Banawa Tengah consisting of 2 classes, VIII B class with 27 students as the experimental class and VIII A class as the control class with 28 students. Data were collected by using speaking tests, pre-test and post-test. The data were analyzed using simple statistics. The results showed that there wass a significant improvement of students' speaking skill. This was evidenced by the result of t-counted (8.35) higher than t-table (1.67) at the degree of significance (0.05). The conclusion of this research indicated that the chain story technique was effective to be taught in the classroom and had a significant effect to improve students' speaking skill.
