Skripsi, English Education Study Program, Language and Art Education Department, Faculty of Teacher Training and Education, Tadulako University. Under the supervision of Konder Manurung and Mashuri. This research is aimed at finding out how the implementation of World Style Debate Technique in teaching speaking. The researcher used a library research method. The data were taken from the thesis and scientific papers published between 2013 and 2020. It was found that there are five academic writings that use the World Style Debate Technique in teaching speaking. The data were collected by applying the documentation technique. The results of the analysis show that the procedure in applying World Style Debate as follows pre-debate, the debate, and post-debate which are used differently by the researchers. The application of the World Style Debate technique by five different researchers generally adopt the steps proposed by Darby (2007) in each stage of the procedure, such as dividing students into groups, providing a brief explanation, giving and determining the motion/topic, giving students time to prepare arguments and building cases, inviting students to start debating, providing evaluation, feedback, or adjudication. However, the implementation of World Style Debate in teaching is varied based on the situation of the class or the teaching and learning process. This study is useful to teachers and other researchers as a reference to do future research. The implementation of World Style Debate can be adapted based on the situation where the teaching and learning process takes place. Keywords: World Style Debate, Teaching, Speaking Skill |
