Abstrak Rahmalia Putri Aras (A12118017). This Skripsi entitled “Improving Students’ Vocabylary Mastery Through English Spelling Bee Games at SMP Negeri 3 Banawa”. English Education Study Program, Language and Arts Education Department, Teacher Training and Education Faculty, Tadulako University. Under the Supervision of (1) Darmawan and (2) Hastini. The objective of this research is to investigate of the effectiveness Spelling Bee Games in improving vocabulary of the eighth grade students of SMP Negeri 3 Banawa. This research applied quasi experimental research design involves two groups, they were experimental and control groups. The sample was selected by purposive sampling; it was 24 students of class VIII A as the experimental class and 22 students of class VIII B as the control class. The data was collected by administering a vocabulary test conducted before and after the treatment. The test included pre-test and post-test, with the mean score of pre-test was 50.83 for experimental class and 39.27 for control class. While on post-test, 73.63 for experimental class and 49.86 for control class. The result of data analysis showed that the result of Sig. (2-tailed) of t-test for equality of means assumed was 0.000 and ? = 0.05. It means that Sig. (2-tailed) < ? = 0.05. So, Ho is rejected and Ha is accepted. Based on the computation, it can be concluded that there was a significant influence of using Spelling Bee Game to improve students’ vocabulary mastery of the eighth grade students of SMP Negeri 3 Banawa.
