Abstrak
Wafida Nur Ilma (A12118013). This Skripsi entitled “Empowering the Seventh Grade Students with Crossword Puzzle for Vocabulary Mastery”. English Education Study Program, Language and Arts Education Department, Teacher Training and Education Faculty, Tadulako University. Under the Supervision of (1) Darmawan and (2) Hastini. This study aimed to determine whether using a crossword puzzle could improve the vocabulary mastery of seventh-grade students in SMP Negeri 3 Banawa. In this study, the researcher used a quasi-experimental design with pre- test and post-test assessments as measurement tools. The researcher employed purposive sampling and selected classes VII B and VII D as the samples, which consisted of 30 students in each class. The collected test data were then subjected to analysis using the test of paired samples in the SPSS v. 25 for Windows. The findings from the data analysis using the test of paired samples revealed a significant difference in scores between the pretest and posttest for the experiment class. The computed p-value (two-tailed) was 0.000, which falls below the predetermined significance level of 0.05. Consequently, the hypothesis has been accepted. In summary, Crossword puzzle game has been implemented, and results demonstrate that it has improved the vocabulary mastery of the seventh-grade students at SMP Negeri 3 Banawa.
