Abstrak ABSTRACT Dzulyadain (A 121 17 239). “Students’ Perceptions on the Use of Social Media in Learning English at SMA Negeri 7 Palu.” Skripsi. English Education Study Program, Language and Art Education Department, Faculty of Teacher Training and Education, Tadulako University, under the supervision of Rofiqoh and Afrillia Anggraeni. The objective of the research was to find out the students’ perception on the use of social media in learning English at SMA Negeri 7 Palu. The research was conducted through descriptive qualitative approach focused on the students’ perceptions on the use of social media in learning English. Ten students of SMA Negeri 7 Palu were involved as participants of the research. In collecting the data, the instrument used was an interview. The study reveals that the students have positive perceptions on the use of social media in learning English. The students utilize social media to exposure of English in daily life, including communicate with foreigners, reading texts, magazines, news, and various learning materials. Positive outcomes from such activity include enhanced language development and meaningful language experiences. Previous research findings are colaborated, emphasizing the role of social media in improving language skills, creativity, and motivation. Additionally, social media serves as a motivational tool for students, encouraging informal learning outside the classroom. Incorporating social media formally in the classroom can provide additional benefits, such as increased engagement, communication, and personalized feedback. In conclusion, this research underscores the positive impact of social media on English language learning, emphasizing its role in providing engaging and diverse learning experiences. The study implies that the use of social media in learning English has positive outcomes and its integration into both formal and informal learning settings can contribute to a more dynamic, engaging, and effective language learning environment.
