Abstrak Stella Anjelina Natalia, 2017. “An Investigation Into the Use of English Movies for Enhancing Vocabulary Mastery." Skripsi, English Education Study Program, Language and Art Education Department, Teacher Training and Education Faculty, Tadulako University, under the supervision of Darmawan and Wahyudin. Today, it has become obligatory for the teacher to rethink and renovate their teaching strategies with the changing times. Since there has been a continuous transformation in the teaching methods, and techniques all over the world in every subject, methods, and techniques for teaching vocabulary need desirable innovation to fulfill students’ need for vocabulary learning. The objectives of this research are to find out the use of English movies in teaching vocabulary and to know how the result of students' vocabulary mastery following the intervention. The study applied a qualitative approach, utilizing the Library Research Method. Data were collected from scholarly works on the use of retelling movies in teaching speaking from 2014 to 2023 and obtained from libraries and online sources. Content analysis was performed on some selected studies by Lydia Amalia (2017), Ditha Kusumarajni (2019), Rosmia Citra Lestari (2016), I Putu Budiana Putra (2020), Isna Oksa Rizqia (2023), Thorino Shandri (2024), and Masuram and Lizy (2023). Collectively, these studies affirm that integrating English movies into the curriculum can significantly enhance vocabulary mastery, making learning more engaging and effective. Although each previous study employed different teaching procedures, the final results consistently showed that i English movies can improve students' vocabulary skills. The findings of the study indicate that students have a positive perception towards the use of movies in their classes to improve their vocabulary mastery. Therefore, it can help them enhance their vocabulary acquisition, which in the end they will use in their conversation or writing when they are using their English.
