Abstrak ABSTRACT The objective of this research is to find out if using the Small Group Discussion technique can improve reading comprehension of grade eighth students of SMP Negeri Satap 9 Dampelas, Donggala. The researcher employed preexperimental research design. The subject of this research is class VIII, which consisted of 19 students, they were selected as sample of the research. The technique of collecting data was pre-test and post-test. The data were analyzed statistically. The result of the data analysis show that the value of t-counted (4.10) was higher than the value of t-table (1.734) by using a significance level of 0,05 with a degree of freedom (df) 19(n-1). It means that the hypothesis is accepted. It means that the using of small group discussion can improve reading comprehension of grade eighth students at SMP Negeri Satap 9 Dampelas.
