Abstrak Fitriani (A 121 17 191). “Using Video to Increase Reading Comprehension of the Grade Eight Students of SMPN 1 Tinombo”. Skripsi. English Education Study Program, Language and Art Education Department, Faculty of Teacher Training and Education, Tadulako University, under the supervision of Darmawan and Agussatriana. The objective of the research is to to find out whether or not the use of video can increase reading comprehension of the eighth grade students of SMPN 1 Tinombo. This research was conducted through a quasi-experimental design in which the sample of the research was selected using a cluster random sampling technique. This research used a reading comprehension test as the instrument. The data collection of this research were analyzed statistically in order to find out the significant difference between two groups on the posttest after the treatment using videos given to the experimental group. It was found that the mean scores of both the experimental and control groups on the posttest were respectively 83.98 and 76.27. Furthermore, referring to the ttable value of df 44 (23+23-2) by applying 0.05 level of significance on one-tailed test, it was found that the tcounted value of this research (3.25) was higher than the ttable value (1.68). It indicated that the use of video can increase reading comprehension of the eighth grade students of SMPN 1 Tinombo. Keywords: Increase, Reading, Video |
