Abstrak
This research aims at finding out whether the use of word chain game as a medium is Effective or not to increase Vocabulary Mastery of Eighth Grade Students of SMP Negeri 1 Menui Kabupaten Morowali. The researcher used pre-experimental research design and. Purposive sampling technique to draw the samples of this research. The data were collected by using pretest and posttest. The pretest was used to find out students’ prior knowledge in vocabulary before the treatments while posttest was used to measure whether the method can be applied to increase students’ vocabulary mastery or not. The results of the data show that the mean score of pretest is 45.16 and posttest is 59.5. The calculation result of t-test= 6.25 is higher than t-table with DF = N-1= 30 -1=29, the researcher calculated the tcounted is 6.25 which is higher than ttable which is 1.699 It means that the hypothesis is accepted. In other words, the use of word chain game as medium in teaching vocabulary mastery is effective. It implies that the implementation of word chain game can be used as method in teaching vocabulary especially at SMP Negeri 1 Menui Kabupaten Morowali. Keywords: Word Chain Game, Vocabulary Mastery.
