Abstrak
ABSTRACT Adista Nuriani (A 121 17 184). “Improving Vocabulary Mastery of Eight Grade Students at SMP Negeri 2 Parigi”. Skripsi. English Education Study Program, Department of Language and Art Education, Faculty of Teacher Training and Education, Tadulako University. Under the supervision of Darmawan and Afrillia Anggreni. The objective of this research is to find out the effect of the flashcard in improving vocabulary mastery of eight grade students. This research used quantitative research with a quasi-experimental design involving an experimental class and a control class. The population of this research was the eight grade students of SMP Negeri 2 Parigi, which consisted of 91 students. The research sample consisted of 24 students in class VIII B as the experimental class and 24 students in class VIII A as the control class. Both classes were selected using a purposive sampling technique. The researcher used test as the research instrument. There are two kinds of test: pretest and posttest. The pretest means score was (50.625) for the experimental class and (52.29) for the control class, while the posttest means score was (70.201) for the experimental class and (61.04) for the control class. The result of the test to the analyzed statistically by applying a t-test using a degree of freedom (df) 46 and 0.05 of the significance level. This result of the research indicates that the t-counted value (5.90) is higher than the t-table (1.667). In other words, the hypothesis of this research is accepted. In conclusion, flashcard media can improve vocabulary mastery of eight grade students at SMP Negeri 2 Parigi. Key Terms: Improve, Vocabulary Mastery, Flashcard.
