Abstrak Iin Arfina (A 121 17 164). “Using Duolingo Application to Improve Vocabulary of Grade Seven Students of SMPN 17 Palu”. Skripsi. English Education Study Program, Language and Art Education Department, Faculty of Teacher Training and Education, Tadulako University, under the supervision of Darmawan. The objective of the research is to to find out whether or not the use of Duolingo can improve vocabulary of grade seven students of SMPN 17 Palu. This research was conducted through a quasi experimental research design in which the sample of the research was selected using a cluster random sampling technique. This research used a vocabulary test as the instrument. The data collection of this research were analyzed statistically in order to find out the significant difference between two groups on the posttest after the treatment using Duolingo application given to the experimental group. It was found that the mean scores of both the experimental and control groups on the posttest were respectively 66.2 and 49.6. Furthermore, referring to the ttable value of df 48 (25+25-2) by applying 0.05 level of significance on one-tailed test, it was found that the tcounted value of this research (11.1) was higher than the ttable value (1.7). It indicated that the use of Duolingo improve vocabulary of grade seven students of SMPN 17 Palu. Keywords: Duolingo Application, Improve, Vocabulary |
