ABSTRACT Indah Agustina Risu(A 121 17 130). Teacher Perception on the Use of WhatsApp Application in Teaching English at SMP Negeri 3 Poso Pesisir During the Covid-19 Pandemic. Skripsi. The objective of this research was to find out teachers' perception on the use of WhatsApp in teaching English. The researcher used descriptive qualitative research. The subject of this research was the English teachers at SMP Negeri 3 Poso Pesisir. Interview was used to collect the data. As the qualitative method, the data was analyzed by using data reduction, data display, and conclusion. The results showed that the teachers perceived the use of WhatsApp facilitate the learning process during COVID-19 Pandemic especially for teaching English. Teachers used it as a facilitation tool for managing students’ tasks, posting the material related to the teaching English, organizing the WhatsApp, and accommodating students’ interaction. In addition, teachers can manage the large class efficiently because technology takes it as an alternative method for teaching during the pandemic. The teacher can access the students' responses anytime in any place, and also, teachers can give feedback directly. WhatsApp provides the chance of learning not only at school but also at home or in any place. However, there are some factors as the limitation on the use of WhatsApp, such as highly consumed data plan, lack of familiarity from the students in adoption WhatsApp, and submitting assignment behind schedule. Teachers stated the use of WhatsApp was very helpful to conduct their virtual classroom. Keywords: WhatsApp, teachers’ perception
