| Abstrak Istianah Mawardin (A 121 17 093). “Effectiveness of Learning English Using Videos to Increase Motivation of Grade X Students at SMAN 3 Palu”. Skripsi English Education Study Program, Department of Language and Art Education, Faculty of Teacher Training and Education, Tadulako University. Under the supervision of Darmawan. The objective of this research aimed to find out whether or not videos is used effectively to increase students’ motivation in learning English of tenth grade students of SMAN 3 Palu. This research was conducted through a descriptive qualitative research design in which the results are tabulated and described. The subject was 20 students of class X IPA 3. They were selected by purposive sampling technique. The instruments of data collection was divided in questionnaire and interview. Depending on the data analysis videos is used effectively to increase students’ intrinsic motivation and extrinsic motivation in learning English. The students showed positive behaviors were considered as the changing the motivation because one of the measurements of motivation is related to the behavior of the students. Furthermore, it can be done by using videos as one of teaching technique to increase students’ motivation in learning English expecially dominant in the extrinsic motivation.
