Abstrak
ABSTRACT Moh Fachrul Sidiq. 2021. “Correlation between Vocabulary Mastery and Reading Comprehension of the Second Year Students of SMK Negeri 3 Palu”. English Education Study Program, Language and Art Education Department, Teacher Training and Education Faculty, Tadulako University. Under the supervision of Prof. H. Hasan Basri, M.A., Ph.D The goal of this research is to find out whether there is a correlation between vocabulary mastery and reading comprehension of the second year students of SMK Negeri 3 Palu. The purpose of this study is to get information and empirical data about the impact of student’s vocabulary mastery and their reading comprehension. This research applied a correlational research design of quantitative approach. This research was conducted at SMK Negeri 3 Palu in the academic year 2020/2021. The sample of this research was 27 students which was taken by using cluster random sampling technique. The instrument used in this research was multiple choice. All the data gained in this research was analyzed by using the formulation of Pearson product moment. The result of hypothesis test was 0.322. The Alternative Hypothesis (Ha) was accepted with significant level (? = 0.05). The result of rxy value obtained above inferred that there is a correlation between vocabulary mastery and reading comprehension of the second year students of SMK Negeri 3 Palu in the academic year 2020/2021 with low correlation, because the rxy value 0.322 was in range of 0.20-0.40.
