Abstrak
Utari Magfirah (A 121 17 072). “Strategies Used by Undergraduate Students of English Education Study Program at Tadulako University in Speaking Skill Through Monologue”. Skripsi. English Education Study Program, Department of Language and Art Education, Faculty of Teacher Training and Education, Tadulako University. Under the supervision of Mawardin M. Said. The objective of this research aims at finding out the learning strategies used and the most frequently strategies used by undergraduate students of English Education Study Program at Tadulako University in learning speaking skill through monologue. This research was conducted through a descriptive qualitative research design. Data were collected through questionnaire and interview. The questionnaire is taken from the Strategy Inventory for Language Learning (SILL) design by Oxford (1990) to obtain the data from 20 students of the sixth semester class 2018 studying at the English Department. The data were analyzed by reducing the data, displaying the data, and drawing a conclusion. The result of this research shows that the students at English Education Study Program applied all of the strategies proposed by Oxford (1990) ; remembering more effectively (memory strategies), using mental process (cognitive strategies), compensating for missing knowledge (compensation strategies), organizing and evaluating learning (metacognitive strategies), managing emotions (affective strategies), and learning with others (social strategies). For the most frequently used by the students is metacognitive strategies. Keywords: Language learning strategies, Speaking skill
