| Abstrak Ni Luh Sania Indriyani (A12117067). “Correlation Between Motivation and Speaking Skill of the Eleventh Grade Students of SMA Negeri 3 Palu”. Skripsi, Faculty of Teacher Training and Education, Department of Language and Art Education, English Education Study Program, under the supervision of Dr. H. Anshari Syafar, M.Sc. This research aims to find out if there are any correlation between motivation and speaking skill of the eleventh grade students of SMA Negeri 3 Palu. The sample of this study was 33 students taken from eleventh grade students of SMA Negeri 3 Palu by using convenience sampling technique. The instruments to collect the data were questionnaire of motivation and speaking test. In analyzing the data, the researcher used Pearson Product Moment formula to find out the coefficient correlation. Finally, the data is confirmed that the obtained r value is 0.676 with the level of significance of t-table 5% = 1.692. It can be inferred that there is positive and significant correlation between motivation and speaking skill of the eleventh grade students of SMAN 3 Palu. Based on the criteria the degree of correlation between those variables is high correlation. It means that students with higher motivation will get better speaking skill then students with low motivation. In other words, the higher motivated students, the better speaking skill can be achieved. Keywords: Correlation, Motivation, Speaking Ability |
