Abstrak ABSTRACT Nurindah Rahmadani (A 121 17 064). This Skripsi is entitled Correlation between Reading Habit and Reading Comprehension of Junior High School Students in Kota Palu. English Education Study Program, Language and Art Education Department, Teacher Training and Education Faculty, Tadulako University., under of supervison of Aminah. The purpose of this research is to find out if there is any correlation between reading habit and reading comprehension of junior high school students in Kota Palu. This research used correlational research design. The sample was 30 grade eight students from SMP Otak Kanan Indonesia Pusat Palu, SMP Karuna Dipa Palu, and SMP Negeri 19 Palu. There were two intruments used in this research, that are reading habit questionnaire and reading comprehension test. All the data gained in this research were analyzed by using Pearson Product Moment Formula. The result shows that the reading habit of grade eight students at three schools is very good category. Their reading comprehension categorized as fair level. There is a positive correlation between reading habit and reading comprehension of junior high students in Kota Palu and categorized as moderate correlation. It indicates that reading comprehension is not always be influenced significantly by reading habit. The implication of this finding for teaching reading is that the teacher needs to motivate the students to read any kinds of fiction and non-fiction in addition to the main materials.
