Abstrak
This study describes about the teachers’ perception in the use of crossword puzzles game in teaching vocabulary. This study employed a qualitative descriptive research design. The subjects of this study were five English teachers in junior high schools of Palu. The instrument of this research was interview. The researcher draws two results: First, the impact of applying crossword puzzles game in teaching vocabulary includes positive and negative. The positive impacts of applying crossword puzzle are increasing students' vocabulary, making students be more active and interested in learning vocabulary, and increasing student enthusiasm in learning English. Meanwhile, the negative impacts of learning English using crossword puzzles is the classroom is noisy and uncontrollable. Furthermore, the teachers’ positive perception on the implementation of crossword puzzle are the applying is not difficult, effective to improve student vocabulary, and make it easier for student to remember the words, While, the negative perception is the teachers need extra time to implementing this game to create conducive and controlling classroom. It implies that the crossword puzzle game can be maintained in teaching vocabulary. However, because of its negative impact the teachers must find ways to overcome the negative impacts by looking for some efforts to keep the classroom some conditions become conducive and controlled during teaching and learning process Keywords: Crossword Puzzle, Vocabulary, Impact, perception.
