Abstrak ABSTRACT Muh.Nuzul Sanusi (A 121 17 048). “Investigating Factors Affecting the Students’ Difficulties in Speaking English”. Skripsi, English Education Study Program, Language and Art Education Department, Faculty of Teacher Training and Education, Tadulako University, Under the supervision of Konder Manurung. This study is aimed to find out what problems are mostly faced by the students in speaking and what factors are affecting the difficulties in speaking English for the students. This study uses library research. The data are collected by the documentation technique. The data is collected from 19 academic writings which are thesis and journal articles that related to the topic. Based on the findings, it is found out that the problems of speaking students encounter are psychological factors, linguistic factors, cultural factors. Apparently, psychological factors become the most appearing difficulty factor for students’ speaking with 78.9% from the data collected. The researcher found out that most students speaking difficulites are related to psychological factors like inhibition and low participation which appeared because of students feel scared to make mistakes, or feel embarrassed infront of their classmates to speak English because the unfamiliarity of the area they lived in. This is why teacher are the best solution for this problem. Teacher need to be more friendly in teaching English. English here is considered as foreign language which is why teacher need to pay extra attention in the learning process. Especially in deciding which methods or strategy they will use. This is due to the education quality in Indonesia is not spread well. Some areas are even still untouched from English. Keywords:Speaking difficulties factors, speaking English |
