Abstrak Putri Indriana (A12116157). Teachers’ Strategies in Teaching Speaking Skill at SMAN 2 Tolitoli. Teacher Training and Education Faculty, Language and Art Education Department, English Education Study Program, Tadulako University, under the Supervision of Nadrun. The objective of this research is to find out the teachers’ strategies in teaching speaking skill at SMAN 2 Tolitoli. This research used a descriptive qualitative research design. The subjects of this research were three English teachers at SMAN 2 Tolitoli. The data were obtained by using an interview. The results showed that there were various strategies used by the English teachers in teaching speaking skill at SMAN 2 Tolitoli. The strategies were discussion, playing games such as playing card and whispering, describing pictures, memorizing and storytelling. The strategy mostly used by the English teachers in teaching speaking was discussion strategy. All of the teachers’ strategies are believed to help and to solve the students’ problems in learning speaking. It can also reduce students’ anxiety in learning since the students can have fun and enjoy in their learning. Furthermore, those strategies can motivate students to learn and practice more about speaking. Keywords: Speaking, Teachers’ Strategies, Teaching Speaking |
