Abstrak Andi Mariam(A 121 16 148)“The Implementation of Clustering Technique in Writing Simple Descriptive Paragraph to Improve the Ability of the Eighth Grade Students of SMP Negeri 3 Parigi”.Skripsi, English Education Study Program, Language and Art Education Department, Teacher Training and Education Faculty, Tadulako University, under the supervision of HasanBasri. The aim of this study is whether using the Clustering Technique can improve students' ability to write descriptive paragraphs in eighth grade or not. The experimental group consists of 15 students, while the control group consists of 15 students. The cluster random sampling technique was used to choose them. The researcher used a quasi-experimental research design, giving pretest and posttest to the two groups. The data were statistically examined. The technique of data collection was test. The test includes pre-test and post-test, with the mean score 44.44 for experimental class, and 41.47for control class on pretest. Also on posttest, the experimental class scored 68.88 while the control class scored 49.62. By applying 0.05 level of significance and 28 degree of freedom (df), This implies that tcounted (8.19) is greater than t-table (1.701). The results indicate that the alternative hypothesis (Ha) was accepted and the null hypothesis (Ho) was rejected. In conclusion, the application of Clustering Technique was effective to improve the ability of the eighth grade students? of SMP Negeri 3 Parigi in writing simple descriptive paragraphs.
