Abstrak ABSTRACT Ika Mulya Sari, A 121 16141. A Study on the Implementation of Short Stories in Teaching Reading Comprehension ,Faculty of Teacher Training and Education, Tadulako University, under the Supervision of Mukrim and Afrillia Anggreni. The objective of this research is to analyze short stories in teaching reading comprehension. Suryani (2020) the use of short stories media in reading comprehension can media improve students reading comprehension and learning activity. This study was conducted by using library research method. The data sources was taken from Hill (2010) as the primary data. The procedure were; 1 Explain the characteristic of short story that usually begins with the words like’ Once upon time or one day. 2 Introduces the character of the story that includes the place and the time.3 Discuss the setting of short story that includes the place and time. 4 Pronounces the name of charactersand the key words then the students follow hi/her. 5 Discuss the ain event of short story part by part by asking the questions to students. 6 Gives the conclusion of short story. 7 Closes the learning process by asking the students about the content of story or asking for the story according to their opinion. The secondary data of the implementation of short stories was taken from academic writings. The secondary data consisted five journal academic writings;Hafiz Ahad bilal,Abul Rehman Tariq,Asif Masood,Ghazala Nasi,Asser Iqbal (2013), Muhammad Lukan Syafi (2018), Yustina Jeni (2020) Zanuba Arifah Khofshoh,Moch Arifin (2021), Sherly Franshisca ( 2021). The results of the students tests as well as their on- going assesments, it is found out the students reading comprehension was gradually improving. It means that there was a positive effect of using Online Short stories towards the student reading ability. Key Words: Reading Comprehension, Short Stories |
