Abstrak
The objective of the research was to find out the students’ perceptions on teaching speaking skills through videos. The researcher used a qualitative research design, specifically descriptive study research. The subject of this research was the one class at the tenth-grade students of SMAN 2 Sigi, which consists of 29 students. The researcher used a questionnaire, depth interview, and audio recorder as instruments to collect the data. The result of the research showed that almost all of the tenth grade students at SMAN 2 sigi perceived that using videos as a medium in the process of learning English speaking skills can help them in improving their speaking skills. Students perceived that using video as an audio-visual medium is an effective way to learn how people communicate in real life so that they can learn new vocabulary or expressions and how to pronounce English vocabulary properly. They also agree that videos can help them in increasing their motivation and stimulate their curiosity to learn English speaking skills. Furthermore, the researcher concluded that the perception of the tenth grade students' at SMAN 2 Sigi regarding the use of video as an audio-visual media to learn English lessons was useful for improving their speaking skills.
