Abstrak ABSTRACT Devya Wulandari (A12116117). The Implementation of Roundtable Technique to Improve Writing Skill of Grade Eight Students of SMP Negeri 2 Sindue. A Skripsi, Teacher Training and Education Faculty, Language and Art Departement, English Education Study Program, Tadulako University. Under the supervision of Aminah. The aim of this research is to prove whether the implementation of Roundtable technique is effective to improve writing skill of grade eight students of SMP Negeri 2 Sindue. The researcher applied quasi experimental research design which involved experimental group and control group. The samples were class VIII C as the experimental group and class VIII A as the control group. They were selected by using purposive sampling technique. In collecting the data, the researcher gave pretest and posttest for both groups. The pretest was used to measure the students’ writing skill before treatment and the posttest was used to measure students’ writing skill after treatment. The result of the data analysis showed that there was an improvement between the results of posttest of both groups. The mean score of experimental group before the treatment was 29.63, while the control one was 48.15. After giving the treatment, the mean score of experimental group in posttest was 80 and the control one was 79.26. It showed that the t-counted (5.11) is greater than t-table (1.701) which indicates that the research hypothesis is accepted. Thus, it can be inferred the implementation of Roundtable technique is effective to improve writing skill of grade eight students of SMP Negeri 2 Sindue.
