Abstrak This research aims to find out whether teaching reading strategy significantly correlates with students reading comprehension. The sample of this correlation research was 43 students of SMP Negeri 5 Sindue. To collect the data, the students were asked to answer questionnaire about teaching reading strategy. Then, they were asked to do reading test to measure their reading comprehension. The data were analyzed by using Pearson Product Moment. The result shows hint, the index correlation; rxy was 0.556 with the degree of freedom (df) is 41. The result of rt on the table of the degree of significance 5% = 0.308 and in 1% = 0.398. The data indicates that the correlation coefficient is higher than the t-table. It means that the null hypothesis (HO) was rejected and the alternative hypothesis (Ha) was accepted. It can be inferred that teaching reading strategy significantly correlates with students’ reading comprehension of the eighth grade students of SMP Negeri 5 Sindue Kabupaten Donggala. The level of correlation is on moderate level which means that teaching reading strategies contribute to student' reading comprehension, but it is not the only factor affecting students' reading comprehension. .
