| Abstrak ABSTRACT Nisa(A12116109) .This skripsi entitled"Inproving Reading Comprehension of Grade VIII Students at Smpn 1 Sindue Tombusabora Donggala,Through Short Story.Skripsi English Education Study Program ,Departement of Language and Art Education. Faculty of Teacher Training and Education, under the Supervisor of Dr.Mawardin.M.Said. M.Hum. This Research aimed at Improving Reading Comprehension of Grade VIII Students atSmpn 1 Sindue Tombusabora through Short Story. The researcher used quasi experimentaldesign.Itssampleswere30studentsofclassVIIIBasthecontrolclass,and30studentsofclassVIIIAastheexperimentalclass.Theresearcherappliedtotalsamplingtechnique.Incollectingthedata,theresearchergavetwokindsoftest,they werepretestandposttesttoexpereimentalclassandcontrolclass.Thedatawereanalyzedstatisticallyinordertofindoutthesignificancedifference of students achievement before and after treatments. The mean score of pretest onexperimentalclassis46.53andmeanscorepretestcontrolclass63.3.themeansscoreposttestof experimental class is 82.4 and posttest of control class is 71.6. by using the 0.05 levelsignificance and 60 as the deegre pf freedom (df)= 60-2= 58, the researcher found that thevalue of t-table is 1.67, which shows that the value of t-counted 6,03 is higher than the valueoft-table1.67.itmeans thatthehypothesis is accepted.
