Abstrak The objective of the research is to describe the procedures of teaching vocabulary mastery by implementing Word Chain Game This study was conducted through Library Research Design. The data sources were taken from Carroll (1879) as the primary data and 9 scientific writing in the forms of journal articles on the implementation of Word Chain Game from 2019-2023 as the secondary data sources. The results of descriptive analysis show that the implementation of the Word Chain Game in the secondary data sources were adapted and derived from the proponent. In the elementary level, the steps used were easy and only used interesting, attractive, simple, and appropriate ways for sixth-grade students. For the junior high school level, the steps used were modified in some places. Here, the category of the word is determined in order to enrich the students’ vocabulary. For the high school level, the conducive environment is strengthened. The reward system was also used, hence the students performed better in class. Also, the students are asked to recall as many words as possible and the use of people’s name, animal, and food are not allowed. This is because the high school level students should be introduced to next level vocabulary. For the university level, the steps of Word Chain Game were adapted to adjust the university level students. This was done through implementing the game with more than one skill. Other than vocabulary, the steps were also designed to cover integrated skills which include grammar, speaking, pronunciation, listening, writing, spelling, and reading. All in all, the secondary data sources claim that the students’ vocabulary mastery is improved after the implementation of the game. It was because of the benefits by the Word Chain Game that makes the students motivated and interested in learning vocabulary. Key Words: Implementation, Word Chain Game, Vocabulary Mastery. |
