Abstrak
The objective of this study was to find out what are the types and frequency of errors found in text written by the second semester students of English Education Study Program at Tadulako University. This research employed content analysis research design to analyze errors found in students’ written text, specifically focusing on the use of the simple present tense in descriptive text. The instruments of data collection were the students’ written texts and error analysis grid. The subjects were the 18 students of English Education Study Program batch 2022. The results of the analysis show that 39 errors were found in the students’ texts. The errors are categorized into four types, which are omission error; representing 41%, addition error; accounting for 33%, misformation error; representing 23%, and misordering error; accounting for 3% of the total errors. The most frequently occurring error in students’ texts is omission error. It was found that the sentences lacked of agreement between the verb and the subject, particularly in relation to the third person singular subject or pronoun.
