| Abstrak ABSTRACT ANIRWANA A, 2020. Factors Influencing Speaking Problems of the Eleventh Grade Students of Sma Negeri 2 Palu. Skripsi. English Education Study Program, Language and Art Department, Teacher Training and Education Faculty, Tadulako University. Under the Supervision of Darmawan. This study aims to investigate the problems that perceived by the students and the factors that causing the problems in their speaking. This research used qualitative research to gain the data. In addition the researcher used test, interview and observation as an instrument. The test was conducted to see the difficulties that occur while students do speaking. Meanwhile the interview conducted to teacher and students to found the factors that causing it. In the other side, the observation used to support the two instruments before. The result of the test showed most of the students had lack of vocabulary and miss pronouncing a word. The result of the students interview and observation showed some factors that influenced these problems, they are, the way teacher presented the material, afraid of making mistake and the factor from students family background. Moreover from the teachers’ interview said the factor was from the educational system and the students’ behavior. They had lack of vocabulary because they were no motivation to learn.
