| Abstrak ABSTRACT Nisfayana (A121 16066). An Analysis of Students Difficulties on Vocabulary At SMPN 18 Sigi. Teacher Training and Education Faculty, Language and Art Departement, English Language Education Study Program, Tadulako University.Under the Supervision of Jamulludin. This researchaims to find out the students’ difficulty in learning vocabulary. This research applied a qualitative research design. The subject of this research was the eighth-grade students at SMPN 18 Sigi. The instruments of this research were a questionnaire sheet, a structured interview, and a semi-structured. The result of the research there were 5 aspects faced by the students when learning English Vocabulary. The difficulty wasFirst, students had difficulty adding vocabulary because they did not understand the meaning of the word and had difficulty to memorize foreign words. Second, students find it difficult to make sentences using English. Due to a lack of vocabulary, the studentd dind’t know to match words when making sentences. Thrid students didn’t do exercises when getting new vocabulary, whether at home or school. So they didn't have a lot of vocabulary. Fourth, learning methods such as online schools and only using textbooks made them less to add new vocabulary. Fifth, memorizing is also difficult. Difficulty when they wanted to add new vocabulary.
