Abstrak
ABSTRACT Usnul Hafizah (A 121 16 044). “The Effect of Using Listen-Read-Discuss (LRD) Strategy in Reading Comprehension Toward Students’ Outcome of Ninth Grade of SMPN 13 Palu”. Skripsi,Faculty of Teacher Training and Education, Department of Language and Art Education, English Language Education Study Program, under the supervision of Sriati Usman. The aim of this research is to testify whether there was an effect toward students’ reading comprehension by using Listen-Read-Discuss strategy at ninth grade of SMPN 13 Palu. The researcher used quantitative research by using quasi experimental research method. Class XI B as the experimental group which consisted of 21 students, while class XI C as the control group consistently of 21 students. The data were collected by administering a reading test. It can be seen from the result of the pretest and the posttest for the experimental and control group. The researcher analyzed the scores by using t-test.The result score of experimental group show the posttest scores are better than the pretest scores. It can be seen from the result of t-test. The researcher used the criteria of two tailed test with significance level (? = 0.05) was T test ? T table: H0 is rejected and Ha is accepted. The result of computation got T test = 3.74 and T table = 2.021. It means 3.74 > 2.021. H0 is rejected and Ha was accepted. Based on the result above, it can be concluded that the LRD strategy affected the students’ learning outcome. Also, this strategy was more effective then conventional way for them to increase reading comprehension. Keywords: LRD strategy, reading comprehension
