| Abstrak Novia (A12116037). This skripsi entitled " Improving Reading Comprehension of the Eight Grade Students of SMP Negeri 4 Tinombo Selatan Through Folktales". Skripsi, English Education Study Program, Language and Art Education Departemen, Teacher Training and Education Faculty, Tadulako University. It is under the Supervision of Nadrun S.Pd.,M.Pd.,M.Ed. This Research aimed at Improving Reading Comprehension of the Eight Grade Students of SMP Negeri 4 Tinombo Selatan Through Folktales. The researcher used quasi design. Its samples were 26 students of class VIIIA ada the experimental group, and 26 students of class VIIIB as the control group, the researcher applied total sampling technique. In collecting the data, the researcher gave two kinds of test, they were pre-test and post-test to experimental group and control group. The data were analyzed statistically in order to find out the significant difference of Students achievement before and after treatments. The mean score pre-test of experimental group is 48.15 and mean score 73.7 and post-test of control group is 70.61. by using the 0.05 level significant and 50 as the degree of freedom (df), the researcher found that the value of t-table is 1.67, which shows that the value of t-counted 5.14 is higher that the value of t-table 1.67 it means that the hypothesis is accepted.
