Abstrak ABSTRACT Wildayani (A 121 16 033). “The Analysis of Teachers’ Strategies in Teaching Reading Comprehension (A Descriptive study at Eighth Grade Students of SMP Labschool Untad Palu)” Skripsi, Faculty of Teacher Training and Education, Department of Language and Art Education, English Language Education Study Program, under the supervision of Nur Sehang Thamrin. This study aims to find out the teachers’ strategies in teaching reading comprehension to find specific and general information. The research design used in this study was descriptive-qualitative. The sample was the Eighth grade’s English teachers who were selected by purposive sampling technique. The research instrument used to collect the data was interview. This study revealed that the Eighth grade’s teachers used two strategies in teaching reading comprehension at SMP Labschool Untad Palu. First is scanning where the teachers use it to help students find specific information from the text. Second is skimming, this strategy used by the teachers to ask students to find the general information. Both scanning and skimming are effective strategies in teaching reading comprehension to find specific and general information to the eighth grade students of SMP Labshool Untad Palu.
